It takes immense conviction and confidence in one’s abilities to pull off a socio-fantasy and it’s courageous that actor and producer Nandamuri Kalyan Ram has entrusted the responsibility of one such film to a newcomer. Vassishta, who has written and directed Bimbisara, has surprised one and all with the film’s promos to date and the film has good momentum, leading to its release date on August 5. The release trailer, launched today, promises a bang for your buck as well.
In the trailer, Kalyan Ram, as Bimbisara, is a fireball of intensity as he says, “It’s time to expand our horizons and conquer newer territories. We’ll let them live if they accept our call for peace, otherwise, death is the only way ahead.” The dialogue leads to a series of action sequences where the king is taking on his enemies with an unmatched vengeance and lust for power. A voice-over also talks about Bimbisara seizing someone else’s kingdom.
The focus shifts to a contemporary timeline soon where Kalyan Ram’s character warns about anyone who attempts to control Trigartala and says they need to go past his sword to fulfil their aim. “Naadaina...Nedaina...Trigartala charitranu taakalante..Bimbisarudi katthini daatali..,” he sends shockwaves into the villain’s camp. The film promises to be a visual wonder by all means and one can notice the efforts that have gone into it.
There haven’t been many attempts to produce socio-fantasies lately and Bimbisara should rekindle the interest for the genre among audiences. Samyuktha Menon and Catherine Tresa play the female leads in the film while Vivan Bhatena is cast as the antagonist. Jr NTR, Kalyan Ram’s brother, will be the chief guest at the film’s pre-release event. Well-known producer Dil Raju is distributing the film in the Nizam region.
The film locks horns with the period-romance Sita Ramam, starring Dulquer Salmaan and Mrunal Thakur on August 5.
