In the teaser, Riddhi – a musician – is seen romancing Subhashree and Surangana. The actor is blended with the character of Krishna and the actresses are seen as his lovers and devotees. “It is essentially a love story. But the film deals with a lot of social conflicts – caste, communal, etc – through music. Samiran Das, our producer, always stands by meaningful and culturally enriching films and this was no exception. His help was immense,” director Indraadip told exclusively to OTTplay.

Bismillah focuses on the tradition of a musical family and how foreign intrusion creates a disturbance in it. “The film shows how a musician not only goes through the journey of melody. But it also focuses on how their surroundings shape them,” said the director.

The music has been composed by Indraadip Dasgupta, while Srijato and Ritam Sen penned the lyrics. Indraadip started working on its music in 2019 and the film was finally shot in January and February of 2020. Arijit Singh, Shreya Ghosal, Kaushiki Chakraborty, Aditi Munshi, Soumyadeep Murshidabadi, Rupankar Bagchi, Shovon, Deborshee Mukherjee, Amrita Singh, and Debayan Banerjee sang the songs. “SVF has taken the rights of the music and they will be releasing the videos one by one,” Indraadip said.

Subhankar Bhar has worked as the DOP. Padmanabha Dasgupta penned the dialogue and screenplay. Bismillah is edited by Sujay Dutta Ray. Costumes have been designed by Abhisek Roy and makeup artist Somnath Kundu has worked on the look of the actors.

Produced by Kaleidoscope, the film will be released on August 19.
