wayne Johnson made a striking debut in the DC Extended Universe with Black Adam, which saw the actor take on his first ever live action superhero role, sort of. The DC film was released in theatres in October last year, and is all set to arrive on OTT this week.

What is Black Adam about?

Black Adam is based on the DC comic character of the same name. The film follows the story of Teth-Adam, a resident of ancient Kahndaq who was granted the powers of the mighty Egyptian gods and then imprisoned over 5000 years ago for misusing them. A modern day archeologist named Adrianna Tomaz, believing him to be a saviour, liberates Black Adam, who then locks horns with the Justice Society.

The film is the 11th instalment in the DCEU, and a spin off of Shazam!

Black Adam was originally intended to be a villain in Shazam!, but the character was later given his own standalone film.

Part of the review for Black Adam on OTTplay reads “Dwayne has a heroic entry almost every single time he enters the frame. Your old-school cinephile self is sure to be happy with this portrayal”.

Who are the cast and crew behind Black Adam?

Dwayne Johnson stars as the titular protagonist in the film, which also features Aldis Hodge, Noah Centineo, Mohammed Amer, Sarah Shahi, Marwan Kenzari, Quintessa Swindell, and Pierce Brosnan in pivotal roles.

The film was written and directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, whom Johnson had collaborated with before on Jungle Cruise(2021). Black Adam is produced by Johnson along with Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia, and Beau Flynn.

Black Adam will be available for streaming on March 15, 2023, on Amazon Prime Video, in the languages of English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
