Blessy's Aadujeevitham wins AR Rahman's heart and admiration

Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman is quite upbeat about the upcoming movie Aadujeevitham . Written and directed by Blessy, the film has been in the making for a long time. "He (Blessy) had dark hair when we started this film," quipped Rahman, jokingly indicating the long time lapse that has occurred from the inception of this film to completion.

AR Rahman hails Aadujeevitham

Rahman was recently in Kochi to take part in the promotions of Aadujeevitham. He also praised director Blessy and actor Prithviraj Sukumaran for creating such a remarkable movie. Drawing parallels with the Hollywood classic Lawrence of Arabia, he claimed that this film restored his faith in cinema as an art form.

"This is a music composer's movie in a way, with so much real estate to compose. I feel honored to work with Mr. Blessy, Prithviraj, and the whole team. They have given their soul to this movie. Looking at them reaffirms my faith in cinema. He has made Malayalam's Lawrence Of Arabia," Rahman praised.

Rahman seems to consider Aadujeevitham as his comeback film in Malayalam after the 1992 film Yodha. Even though in 2022, he scored music for Malayankunju, starring Fahadh Faasil, Aadujeevitham appears to be the film that fully utilized his potential and imagination.

A long-awaited journey

Blessy dedicated about 16 years of his life to developing Aadujeevitham. He first began working to adapt the popular Malayalam novel of the same name in 2008. In 2010, he officially announced that he was working on the screenplay. Since then, he has solely focused on bringing the book to life through film, sticking by the project through numerous ups and downs, mostly stemming from budgetary constraints.

Aadujeevitham finally went into production in 2018 with Prithviraj in the lead. The film tells the harrowing experience of an Indian migrant in an Arab country, following his journey through the desert, braving scorching heat, thirst, starvation, and injury.

Aadujeevitham is due in cinemas on March 28.
