Shot during the pandemic, Bo Burnham’s musical special title Inside will start airing from May 30th on Netflix. Co-incidentally, it would be right before Memorial Day in the US.
The pianist-cum-comedian had released a teaser video for the same on April 28th via Twitter with the caption, “Hi. I made a new special. It was filmed by me, alone, without a crew or an audience, over the course of the past year. It is almost finished. I hope you like it. (sic)”.
The teaser showed Burnham with a clean shaven face, playing the piano, before focusing on a door half open. As the camera moves back again to show Burnham, we see him with a fully grown beard and long hair, suggesting that the special was shot during lockdown.
Inside will be a follow up to his 2013 and 2016 specials What and Make Happy respectively, both of which were released on Netflix. The special will be a homage to Burnham’s comedy origins, as now he is part of popular movies and TV shows. Bo Burnham was most recently seen in the Academy award winning film Promising Young Woman. He played the role of Ryan, who is the love interest of Cassie (Carey Mulligan) in the film.
The actor-comedian has also been part of movies like The Big Sick, and appeared in shows such as Parks and Recreation and The Kroll Show. He made his directorial debut in 2018 with the movie Eighth Grade, which was critically acclaimed for showing the emotional rollercoaster life of a teenage girl. But even before he got into acting, Bo Burnham was a popular YouTube sensation.
