Bob Saget’s wife Kelly Rizzo opens up about her grief: “I had never gone through the loss of a close loved one before”

Bob Saget is considered one of the most iconic stars from the ‘90s. He is more famous for sitcoms and TV shows than movies. The star passed away in January 2022 at the age of 65. He got married to Kelly Rizzo, the TV personality and entrepreneur, in 2018.

Recently Kelly opened up and talked about her loss after 5 years of Saget’s death. Rizzo is currently gearing up for her podcast, Comfort Food, where she will be attending guests to talk about life, love, and loss while having snacks. “I just remember being acutely aware of, ‘Wow, what this person did for me really made my day better’,” Kelly told Variety. “I had never gone through the loss of a close loved one before. I started thinking, ‘How have I been helpful to people over the years?’.”

The first 2 episodes of Comfort Food will air on Sunday, November 19, where her first guests will be Saget's friend John Stamos and Katie Couric. All episodes will air on every Sunday, across all podcast stations.

How did Kelly overcome husband's death?

While talking to Variety, Kelly shared that the grief of losing her husband was quite deep. Only food, laughter, and bonding with her close loved ones helped her a lot. “I figured, ‘Hey, if we’re having these difficult conversations, how can I make it as approachable as possible?’.” Rizzo said. “I don’t want it to be a downer. I don’t want it to be a bummer. So let’s introduce my guest’s favorite comfort food."
