Bobby Deol on Koffee With Karan

In the latest episode of Koffee With Karan that will air this Thursday on Disney+ Hotstar, Bobby talks about the lowest point in his career when he struggled to find work and turned to alcohol to find some solace.

He added that he was in a phase of self-pity and was pessimistic when he struggled to find work in the film industry while his wife was working. He said, “I gave up; I started pitying myself. I just took on drinking a lot and was sitting at home. I used to keep cursing people and wondering why don’t people take me? I am good, why don’t they want to work with me? I think I became so negative about everything that there was no positivity coming from me. I used to sit at home while my wife worked.”

The turning point in his life

Talking about the turning point in his life, Bobby said that his son’s comment about him sitting at home while his wife was working changed something in him. He said, “Suddenly, I heard my son telling my wife, ‘You know mom, papa sits at home and you go to work everyday.’ Something snapped in me. I said, I can’t (do this). It was a slow process. When I got out of it, it took me time to get into the right frame of mind to become okay. It can’t happen overnight.”

Speaking about the support he received from his family, Bobby said that his brother, his father, mother and sisters were always there for him. He said, “You cannot always do something holding someone’s hand. You have to walk on your two feet. Then things started changing. I became more focused and more serious.”

He then met people and told them that he wanted to work with them. Bobby even said that he went to Karan for work, but the two of them haven’t worked together yet.

Things are now looking up for Bobby. The  actor will be seen on the big screen in director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film Animal, which also stars Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna.
