Bobby Deol is currently riding high on the success of his performance in Love Hostel. In the ZEE5 original film, the actor plays the role of Dagar, a ruthless mercenary who conducts honour killings. The film features Vikrant Massey and Sanya Malhotra in the lead roles and is directed by Shanker Raman. During a recent interaction, Deol spoke about how he has been getting once-in-a-lifetime opportunities in these kinds of roles.

The actor told The Times of India that it was especially satisfying because portraying these personas was a significant challenge and completely unfamiliar territory for him. These kinds of characters only come along once in a lifetime, and one doesn't have many chances to meet them. Deol didn't want to miss out on this opportunity. He was afraid that if he didn't get the character in Love Hostel right, he wouldn't get another chance like that. Thus, he put in a lot of effort and time. The most important thing was to achieve a Haryanvi accent that was as close to the original as possible.

Talking about how he cracked the darker side in Love Hostel, Deol revealed that everyone has a dark side and they learn to tame it to become better individuals as a result. They are all human beings with flaws, so understanding one's culture and upbringing is the only way to improve their weaknesses. Deol further explained that the parents instilled in them the values of being practical and striving to be good people because we're all greedy, self-centred, and egotistical. What makes someone great is when they understand and control all of these components of their personality.

Dagar, his character, was convinced that he was correct; he never felt like he was in the wrong. That was his attempt at portraying the character. Deol's character appears to believe that nothing he does is bad, but that everyone else around him is; that's why he's acting the way he is. One can have a catastrophe or anything unsavoury happen in their life, and it will spark something in their head, causing them to transform into someone else. That happens to a lot of people, so Deol is sure he's merely considered all of those possibilities. The actor has seen a lot of life and a lot of people; the good, the bad, and the ugly. All of these people seem to linger in their thoughts, and one simply absorbs their feelings and emotions.
