There was a time when Sunny Deol spoke up on the ways of Bollywood and how he was sidelined to pave the way for superstar Shah Rukh Khan in Darr. Now, his brother Bobby Deol recalls being thrown out of Bollywood's beloved movie Jab We Met, rather brutally. From Kareena Kapoor Khan initially rejecting the movie to Bobby convincing the producer to work with Imtiaz Ali on the film, here are all the shocking details that the actor spilled...
Bobby Deol saw a rush print of Jab We Met when Imtiaz was still working on Socha Na Tha with his cousin-actor Abhay Deol. That is when Bobby pulled strings and asked Imtiaz to write the movie for him. "I tried really hard to make that film (Jab We Met) happen; I reached out to a lot of people," the actor recalled to Instant Bollywood.
Bobby claims he brought Ashtavinayak on board the film, even when they wanted to work with the actor and resisted signing a deal with the Rockstar director, Imtiaz. However, Bobby insisted they give Imtiaz a chance, and that's how they came on board for Jab We Met.
Bobby Deol was the one who approached Kareena Kapoor Khan for Jab We Met first. He spoke to her through a contact, but she turned it down. Preity Zinta was also approached for the movie, but she turned down the project, too, stating that she would take up the film on a later date.
After everything, Bobby was thrown out of the project, which became one of Bollywood's most beloved. Instead, Kareena gave her nod and worked with Shahid Kapoor on the film with Imtiaz and Ashtavinayak. "It can be tough in the industry; I was really upset about it at the time," Bobby recalled while still defending Imtiaz for making the call. Now that Jab We Met 2 might happen, can Bobby be considered, still?
