This year, three Bengali films – Srijit Mukherji’s Tekka, Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy’s Bohurupi and Mithun Chakraborty’s Shasthi -- were released during Puja. Among them, Shastri was left behind in terms of business. Bohurupi beat Srijit and Dev's Tekka and became the winner. According to box office reports, it is the highest-grosser film among the three.
Team Windows celebrated the success party on the evening of Laxmi Puja. The box office portal sacnilk.com said that the film grossed around Rs 6.25 cr in eight days. There is still a huge craze among the audience for the film. In the ticket booking app, approximately eleven thousand tickets were sold in twenty-four hours.
How much did Tekka earn? The film's producer cum actor Dev revealed the figure on Saturday. Till now, the film earned Rs 3.5 crores. The information of sacnilk.com is close to Dev--3.32 crores.
However, Shastri's producers Soham and Surinder Films did not disclose the film's earnings. According to sacnilk.com, the film earned about Rs 82 lakh in ten days. In the second week, the number of shows came down below a hundred.
In the wake of the RG Kar incident, Swastika called for not returning to the festival. Srijit also took an anti-government stand. The makers were worried about Tekka. Dev also admitted that some uncertainty was there. However, it was seen that Bengalis did not let Bengali cinema down. Rather, Hindi films like Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video starring Rajkummar and Tripti Dimri, or Aliah Bhatt's Jigra could not do well compared to the Bengali films.
