In the 1990s drama Bohurupi, the unlawful incarceration of Bikram (Shiboprosad Mukherjee) throws his life into chaos. While incarcerated, he forms an alliance with a seasoned bank robber and eventually becomes an expert imposter, planning daring heists like the one at the Ajaygunj Co-operative Bank. An intense pursuit ensues between him and police officer Sumanta Ghosal (Abir Chatterjee) as a result of his acts. Bohurupi tells a compelling story of perseverance in the face of a corrupt system by combining exciting action with profound themes of morality, justice, and identity.

Director duo on the themes behind Bohurupi

Shiboprosad Mukherjee (Ramdhanu) and Nandita Roy discussed the film, saying that with Bohurupi, they wanted to explore how far a man can go when pushed to the edge by a system meant to protect him. The story is about more than just crime and disguise; it's also about finding one's voice in a culture that tends to censor the truth, all set against the background of a dangerous era. Bohurupi is more than merely a heist drama, and they're thrilled that ZEE5 is giving it to a broader audience with its world digital premiere. They hope viewers connect with the emotional depth and thrilling twists that make it so.

Playing Sumanta Ghosal in Bohurupi was a deeply immersive experience for Abir Chatterjee. He's more than just a cop on the hunt for a criminal; he's a man struggling with his sense of right and wrong, wondering all the time whether vengeance is ever justified. The actor is overjoyed that Bohurupi will be available to viewers all over the nation on ZEE5. Collaborating with Nandita di and Shibu da on such a multi-layered story was an extraordinary experience.

Ritabhari Chakraborty reflects on her challenging role

Bohurupi is an exceptional film for Ritabhari Chakraborty (watch Shesh Theke Shuru), who played Pori Ghoshal; it's her first time working with Shibuda and Nanditadi under their direction. Many of their fantastic films have pushed her into acting and screenwriting. Counting herself incredibly fortunate, the actor took on one of the most demanding roles she has ever had. It was a tremendous challenge to bring it to the screen because of all the layers and the terrible internal agony it bears.

The experience of portraying Jhimli Pramanik in Bohurupi has been incredibly transformative for Koushani Mukherjee. She is a complex, fierce, and helpless victim of a maelstrom she cannot escape. Collaborating with such an outstanding crew made each scene that much more impactful on an emotional level. Bohurupi is a heartfelt, riveting, and intense show, and she can't wait for people all around the nation to see it on ZEE5.

Bohurupi looks like it will be more than a simple heist film; it will be a multi-layered emotional exploration of loyalty, forgiveness, and perseverance.
