Border 2: From Sunny Deol to Varun Dhawan, know who plays what in Anurag Singh’s directorial

Border 2 is back in news ever since the track Ghar Kab Aaoge released. The movie has finally revealed some more details with regards to the cast members of the movie. While we also learn that Dhurandhar star Akshaye Khanna might join Border 2 by reprising his original role of Lieutenant Dharamvir Singh Bhan, here's learning a little more about what each actor plays in the upcoming movie which is produced by JP Dutta.

Who plays what in Border 2?

Sunny Deol -

Sunny Deol reprises his role of Major Kuldeep Singh Chandpuri. He was the Commander of Alpha Company, 23rd Battalion, Punjab Regiment at the time of Battle of Longewala in the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War.

Mona Singh –

Mona Singh plays the role of Major Kuldeep’s wife, Mrs. Surinder Kaur Chandpuri, in the upcoming movie, Border 2.

Varun Dhawan -

Varun Dhawan is expected to portray the character of Param Vir Chakra awardee Hoshiyar Singh Dahiya. For the uninitiated, Colonel Hoshiar Singh Dahiya's bravery and leadership during the fierce Battle of Jarpal (one of the many battles that led to the 1971 Indo-Pak War), was extraordinary.

Medha Rana –

Medha Rana is touted to play the role of Varun Dhawan’s wife, Dhano Devi, in Border 2.

Diljit Dosanjh -

Diljit Dosanjh is loosely inspired by the role of Indian Air Force officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon. He was awarded India's highest military honour, the Param Vir Chakra, in recognition of his sole defence of the Srinagar air base against Pakistan Air Force air strikes during the war. He was stationed at the Srinagar air base when six F-86 jets of the Pakistan Air Force attacked on December 14, 1971.

Sonam Bajwa –

Sonam Bajwa is expected to play the role of Diljit Dosanjh's on-screen wife. In real life, Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon was unmarried and had a sister named Inderjeet Boparai. He was martyred in the 1971 War.

Ahan Shetty -

While Ahan Shetty’s role is currently kept under the wraps, he is related to Diljit Dosanjh's character in some sense. The actor will portray the role of an Indian Navy officer.

Anya Singh –

It is currently unclear whether Anya Singh plays the role of Ahan Shetty’s wife or another family member in Border 2. The same is expected to be clearer as the film’s release comes closer.

Border 2 is scheduled for theatrical release on January 23, 2026.
