August 15, 2024, saw multiple releases in the form of Mr. Bachchan, Double Ismart, and Aay. But the sad part is that the films that were supposed to dominate the box office failed in a big way. The films are Double Ismart directed by Puri Jagannath and Mr. Bachchan helmed by Harish Shankar.
Both these films started on a very sad note. It has been ten days since these films were released but the sad part is that Double Ismart and Mr. Bachchan are almost out of theaters in Telugu states. On the other hand, a small film, Aay has struck a chord with the youth and is still managing to find a decent set of audience.
The film has grossed Rs 13 crore to date and the special aspect is that the collections of the film on the second Monday are better than those of the first Monday. This shows how much the film is being liked by one and all. Jr. NTR's brother-in-law, Narne Nithin played the main lead in this film which was produced by Allu Arjun's banner, Geetha Arts.
As the weekend is on, Aay is seeing good occupancy in the Telugu states. The youthful drama has been made on a very low budget but has made double the money at the box office. Allu Aravind is behind the film and the news is that he has also bagged the OTT rights for the film through his platform, Aha. An official confirmation is yet to be made in this regard.
The sad part is that the big films that were made on massive budgets will see big losses of close to Rs 20 crore each. Puri Jagan has given yet another flop after Liger. He pinned a lot of hope on Double Imsart which had Ram Pothineni as the main lead. But his flop streak continues.
The same is the case with Ravi Teja as well. He too needs to score a hit badly and is now recovering after a surgery that he underwent recently. For now, Aay has caught the imagination of one and all and is in no mood to slow down. Watch this space for more.
