Apple Studios has acquired Brad Pitt and George Clooney's upcoming film, a thriller written and directed by Jon Watts (Spider-Man: Homecoming).
A theatrical release is also part of the acquisition deal, according to Deadline, which first shared this development.
Watts will also produce with Clooney's Clooney’s Smokehouse Pictures and Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment. Plot details are under wraps, but it is said to revolve around "two lone-wolf fixers assigned to the same job".
Deadline adds that Lionsgate, Sony, Netflix, Universal, Amazon, Annapurna Pictures and Warner Bros were invovled in an intense bidding war to obtain the rights to this film, which will see Clooney and Pitt reunite after Ocean's Eleven.
This untitled thriller is among the newest films to board Apple Studios' growing roster. Other projects are Emancipation, starring and produced by Will Smith; Martin Scorsese’s western Killers of the Flower Moon, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert Di Niro; a musical titled Spirited with Will Ferrell, Ryan Reynolds and Octavia Spencer; and Raymond and Ray, starring Ewan McGregor and Ethan Hawke.
Meanwhile, Clooney's other projects include The Tender Bar, which he is directing for Amazon. Pitt will be seen next in Damien Chazelle-directed Babylon and director David Leitch's Bullet Train.
