Following the recent announcement of his films Brahmastra parts 2 and 3, Ayan Mukerji has reportedly moved out of Dharma Productions and joined forces with Jio Studios in order to create a better and bigger universe.

Brahmastra Part One: Shiva, a fantasy adventure movie starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, was released in September 2022. The movie finished with references to Brahmastra Part 2: Dev and hazy shots of an actress playing Shiva's mother Amrita.

Since then, it has been rumoured that Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh will carry the series further. It was also said that Ayan Mukerji would film Brahmastra Dev Vs. Shiva's Parts 2 and 3 concurrently.

According to an exclusive revelation from Pinkvilla, the franchise's original producers Dharma Productions and Disney decided to step away from it and were ready to sell the rights to Ayan, who already owned a portion of it. He then took control and approached Jio Studios with his Astra - Verse and the other two parts.

“Ayan has plans to make Brahmastra Part 2: Dev and Brahmastra Part 3: Shiva v/s Dev for Jio Studios, which are the tentpole attractions of the deal. Apart from the two pioneers, he will be making spin-offs on other characters of the Brahmastra in the format of web series, and independent feature films,” said a source close to the publication.

Along with Nandi, Pawan, Gaj, and Jal, Ayan is also preparing his Astra-Verse. According to reports, only Jal Astra would aim for big screens while the rest will reach digital ones. “If the deal falls in place, the value of this deal will be among the highest ever between a studio and a director. Ayan will be the showrunner of the franchise, but the spin-offs will be commissioned to other filmmakers.”, said the source.

In addition to this, a kid's animated television series is being planned as part of a 10-year strategy to advance the franchise. Brahmastra Part 2: Dev and Brahmastra Part 3: Dev Vs Shiva are scheduled for December 2026 and December 2027, respectively. War 2 by Yashraj Films, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR, is also being directed by Ayan Mukerji.
