Brahmastra: New still featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt as Shiva and Isha released

Brahmastra is one of the biggest films to soon make its way to Indian cinemas and features Ranbir Kapoor along with Alia Bhatt in the lead. A new still with the lead pair as their characters Shiva and Isha was unveiled today.

The two actors, who are also dating in real life, are seen holding hands and gazing longingly at each other through a gate in the new still. A press note attached to the still said that the photograph was taken on set “where their romance sparked”.

Brahmastra is a fantasy epic from Ayan Mukerji (Wake Up Sid, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani) that has been in the making for almost a decade. The cast also includes Amitabh Bachchan, Akkineni Nagarjuna, and Mouni Roy in key roles.

Mukerji had previously said that with Brahamastra he will bring a “unique and never-seen-before world.” The film centres around Kapoor’s character Shiva, a man born with special powers, while Bhatt plays his love interest. Bachchan will be seen as Shiva’s mentor.

This is the first of the three films in the franchise backed by Fox Star Studios, Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, Prime Focus and Starlight Pictures.

Brahmastra will be released on September 9 this year. The second and third parts will be out in 2024 and 2026, respectively.

Besides this project, Bhatt will be seen in Gangubai Kathiawadi (February 25). Meanwhile, Kapoor's upcoming release is Shamshera (July 22).
