Within days, Ayan Mukerji’s magnum opus, Brahmastra will make its way onto the big screen. The director has promised a fantasy adventure mounted on a massive and grand scale, the likes of which Indian cinema has never witnessed before. Less than a week before the film is to hit the silver screen, the makers have unveiled a new promo which gives viewers a glimpse into all of the awe-inspiring astras, as well as Ranbir Kapoor’s fiery avatar.

The promor shows the fate of the universe hanging in the balance, as Mouni Roy’s Junoon, the Queen of Darkness, refuses to rest until she gets her hands on the all powerful Brahmastra, which has the power to wipe out life as we know it. As Amitabh Bachchan’s Guru narrates just how catastrophic the consequences can be, Ranbir’s Shiva reassures him, and the latter unleashes his inner fire as he treads the path of his destiny.

Viewers are also treated to some breathtaking glimpses of the various astras in the fantasy universe, including the Vanarastra, Nandi Astra, Jalastra, Agnyastra, Pawanastra, Prabhastra and Nag Dhanush as well.

Alia Bhatt and Nagarjuna Akkineni also star in the fantasy drama. While Alia portrays Ranbir’s love interest, Nagarjuna stars as a character who wields the Nandi astra. Shah Rukh Khan will also essay a cameo role in the film, and will reportedly play a character who wields the Vanarastra. The upcoming film is bankrolled by Ayan, Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta and Namit Malhotra.

Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva is intended to be the first instalment in Ayan’s cinematic universe, dubbed the Astraverse. Each film will follow a different protagonist and their adventures dealing with the all powerful astras.

Brahmastra will be released in theatres on September 9 in Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada. Advance bookings for the film are now open.
