Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma recently made headlines when he made a statement that is sure to capture everyone’s attention. He mentioned that nobody in Bollywood liked Yash’s KGF 2. Thus, he is left confused about the film’s Box Office success. And now, he has commented on Brahmastra after SS Rajamouli and Jr. NTR promoted the film in Hyderabad.
“When a film you didn’t like does such numbers, you’ll be confused and you don’t know what to do,” RGV told Bollywood Hungama. He then claimed that a huge Bollywood director told him that he ‘couldn’t watch the film beyond half an hour,’ even after his fifth attempt. The director then went back to working on his script, Ram Gopal Varma claimed.
“There’s a line in Hollywood, ‘You can argue with content, but you can’t argue with success’! Hence, whether or not you liked it, you can’t ignore its success,” the filmmaker said, but not before claiming that KGF 2 and The Kashmir Files have f**ked up everything. “They are the opposite ends of the spectrum,” he shared.
Now, Ram Gopal Varma, in another tweet on Jr NTR and SS Rajamouli's presence at Brahmastra's promotional event, spoke about how Telugu cinema is the 'new Hindi'.
In Hyderabad, while promoting Brahmastra, ace Southern filmmaker SS Rajamouli and South megastar Jr NTR's marked their attendance and promoted the movie on their home turf, which was sihfted from Ramaoji Film City to a hotel after the organisers were denied permission for security reasons, as per a report by DNA online.
On September 2, day of the event, Ram Gopal Varma took to his Twitter handle and wrote, "Going by @ssrajamouli and @tarak9999 at the #Bramhastra event , TELUGU is the new HINDI."
Interestingly, Ram Gopal Varma had also criticized KGF 2 over Twitter when the film released in theatres. He called the movie a ‘dark cloud’ and added that KGF 2 is an enormous tree under whose shadow, no other tree is growing.
Brahmastra, directed by Ayan Mukerji, features Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Nagarjuna and Amitabh Bachchan in leading roles and is all set to release in the theatres on September 9, 2022.
