Ayan Mukerji’s magnum opus, Brahmastra seemed to have broken Bollywood’s box office slump, raking in more than Rs 300 crore worldwide. The director has been nothing but candid when talking about his dream project, and had recently revealed that Kesariya, arguably one of the most popular songs of the film, had been envisioned in a much different way than the delightfully soothing romantic ballad that viewers were treated to in the movie.

Ayan had teased an earlier version of the song titled Kesariya (Dance Mix), which he had scrapped from the film initially. Kesariya (Dance Mix) was unveiled by the makers recently, which gives a glimpse into a groovier, much more danceable version of the Kesariya fans know and love.

The music video shows Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt show off the best of their dance moves, as to groove to peppier, livelier beats of the song. They are joined in their merry making by a number of colourful background dancers as well, adding to the vibrance of the video.

While the original version was sung by Arijit Singh, the dance mix featured the vocals of Shashwat Singh and Antara Mitra. Both versions were composed by Pritam and had lyrics penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya.

Teasing the song on social media, Ayan had revealed that they had shot the entire dance mix of the song, which was supposed to be put into the movie. But he had later decided that a more ‘romantic' version of the song would be better suited for the film, and had subsequently ‘pleaded’ with everyone to reshoot the same. Although he had decided against showing the Dance Mix version to anyone, he’d decided to release the song after the film’s success.

In addition to Ranbir and Alia, Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva, also featured Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy and Nagarjuna Akkineni in pivotal roles.
