Darling Krishna’s Brat is currently the only Kannada film releasing for Rajyotsava. Director Shashank’s latest with Krishna had booked the October 31 release slot, as did veteran filmmaker S Narayan for his Maarutha, but then the latter moved out of the race, meaning that Brat’s big competition at the box office is only Ravi Teja’s Telugu film, Mass Jathara.

Given that their previous collaboration, Kousalya Supraja Rama, had done well at the box office, Shashank is quite bullish that Brat will do wonders too. So much so that he is looking at releasing dubbed versions of the film days after the original comes out. Ahead of the film’s theatrical outing, Shashank got Kannada superstar Kiccha Sudeep to release the trailer, which, he believes is a good omen for the team.
Krishna plays Kristy, the son of an honest police officer, who resorts to illegal means to make a quick buck. The people whose paths he crosses in his pursuit of big money and the fallout thereof is central to the plot of Brat. There is a romantic angle as well in the film, with Shashank introducing Manisha Kandkur as a new heroine. The film has Ramesh Indira and Dragon Manju as antagonists.
Speaking at the trailer launch, Krishna said that after Kousalya Supraja Rama, Shashank had gone back to him with at least 5-6 different scripts, of which Brat seemed the most apt for him, which was also vastly different from their earlier collaboration. “He has shown me in a very different light in this film; there is a freshness to the character presentation and I am eager to see how audiences react to it.
