Breathe: Into the Shadows — Abhishek Bachchan to return for a new season of Prime Video thriller series

Amazon Prime Video has greenlit its Abhishek Bachchan-led thriller series Breathe: Into the Shadows for a second season. The announcement was made via social media today.

Joining Bachchan's Dr Avinash Sabharwal in the sequel will be Amit Sadh (as Inspector Kabir Sawant), Nithya Menen (as Abha Sabharwal), Saiyami Kher (as Shirley). Naveen Kasturia, best known for TVF Pitchers, Love Sex Aur Dhokha, Shanghai, and Sulemani Keeda, has also joined the cast. 

According to Deadline, Breathe: Into the Shadows 2 has begun production in New Delhi and Mumbai. The show is created and produced by Abundantia Entertainment, and directed by Mayank Sharma. It is a follow-up to Sadh's show Breathe, which released on the platform in 2018. 

The last season of the show, which premiered last year, saw Bachchan's character on a seach for his 6-year-old daughter who is kidnapped by a mask man. The kidnapper only agrees to free his daughter if Avinash kills someone. Press Trust of India reports that the sequel will feature a face-off between Bachchan and Sadh's characters.

The previous season opened to dismal reviews from critics, with some calling the show "illogical" and "plain preposterous." 

"Given the popularity and sheer anticipation around Breathe: Into The Shadows, a new season was imminent. As the plot intensifies and new characters infuse raw energy into the narrative, the stakes and the thrill go higher this season," said Aparna Purohit, the head of Originals at Prime Video.

Breathe: Into the Shadows 2 will be released on the platform in 2022.
