Brendan Fraser is reportedly set to be a part of the upcoming Batgirl movie, starring Leslie Grace. The star will be seen in the movie playing the role of Firefly, a Gotham villain who is obsessed with setting things on fire.
The film, helmed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, will not have a theatrical release and will go directly to a streaming platform. This will be the first big DC project that will directly debut with a streamer, according to Deadline.
While the plot and other information about the film is not known, it is understood that Grace will play Barbara Gordon, the daughter of Inspector Gordon, who will dawn the cape in the movie.
Helmed by the Bad Boys for Life directors, the movie is written by Christina Hodson and will be produced by Kristin Burr.
If reports are to be believed. Fraser will play Garfield Lynns, a movie pyrotechnician who turns into a petty criminal after his career comes to an end. He then takes his particular skill set to the underworld, and carries out arson attacks across Gotham.
Fraser, who is still fondly remembered for his role in movies such as Mummy, is making a comeback in 2021. The star will be seen in the lead role in Darren Aronofsky’s next film The Whale.
He is also working on Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon, where he will play an important role. The film also stars Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio.
