The music of Bridgerton Season 1 was filled with classical covers of modern-day hits playing at the ton's balls and galas or garden parties. The second season also aims to recreate the same music magic, with the show's supervisor sharing that a cover of 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham' will be featured in Season 2.
'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham' is from Karan Johar's 2001 family drama with Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor. The song, sung by the late Lata Mangeshkar, is penned by lyricist Sameer and composed by Jatin-Lalit.
Bridgerton music supervisor Justin Kamps said that composer Kris Bowers, who has also created a rendition of Madonna's 'Material Girl' for this Season, is behind the cover of 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham'.
Other songs are Nirvana's 'Stay Away' and Robyn's 'Dancing on My Own' by Vitamin String Quartet, Rihanna's 'Diamonds' by Hannah V and Joe Rodwell, Alanis Morisette's ' 'You Oughta Know' and Pink's 'What About Us' by Duomo, Harry Styles' 'Sign of the Times' by Steve Horner, Calvin Harris' 'How Deep is Your Love', and Miley Cyrus' 'Wrecking Ball.'
Jonathan Bailey, Phoebe Dynevor, Nicola Coughlan, Luke Thompson, and Claudia Jessie will reprise their roles in Season 2. Charithra Chandran and Simone Ashley are among the new additions to the cast.
