Netflix has officially confirmed premiere dates for the highly anticipated fourth season of its hit period drama, Bridgerton. The second son of the Bridgerton family, Benedict, will be the centre of the eight-part season, which will premiere in two parts of four episodes each in early 2026. On January 29, 2026, the first half of Season 4 of Bridgerton will stream on Netflix, and on February 26, 2026, the second half will premiere.

Storyline and new romantic lead

Season 4 follows the events of An Offer From a Gentleman, the third novel by Julia Quinn, with Luke Thompson's Benedict Bridgerton taking the stage. Newcomer Yerin Ha will portray Sophie Baek, a woman with a "Cinderella-like twist" in her backstory, as his romantic interest.

Lady Whistledown's (Julie Andrews) voice provided the narration for the short teaser trailer that followed the date announcement. This little excerpt gives viewers their first enticing peek at the masquerade ball, the setting for the main romance.

Benedict and Sophie's encounter

As Benedict (Thompson) descends an elaborate staircase, the teaser shows him wearing a black mask and attired in all black. He runs into Sophie (Ha) as she climbs the stairs; she's known as the "Lady in Silver" because of her dazzling silver gown, long white gloves, and fragile silver mask. Their hands touch in a brief but passionate embrace, setting the stage for the teaser's climax. The scene shifts to a singular white glove that has been left on the stairway, establishing the backdrop for Benedict's quest to find his enigmatic lady.

The fourth season will be the most faithful depiction of the plot to date, according to showrunner Jess Brownell. The key change will be the protagonist character's purpose. The "delicate and thoughtful" Benedict, played by Thompson, will add another dimension to the free-spirited artist's quest for love.

Central conflict

The season revolves around Benedict's unwillingness to settle down, a stance that shifts after he meets Sophie at the masquerade ball. Lady Araminta Gun (Katie Leung) is a demanding employer, and the protagonist, Sophie Baek (a name change from Sophie Beckett in the book), is a clever maid who finds ways to get by. Everything in the season revolves around her disguised attendance at the masquerade.

Other beloved characters will also be making a triumphant return to the show. The Viscount and Viscountess, played by Anthony Bridgerton and Kate Sharma, respectively, will be back for another round, as will Colin Bridgerton's Luke Newton and Penelope Bridgerton's Nicola Coughlan. Many of the original cast members are back for another season, including Claudia Jessie, Adjoa Andoh, Hannah Dodd, Ruth Gemmell, Polly Walker, and Golda Rosheuvel. New additions to the cast include Leung, Michelle Mao as Rosamund Li, and Isabella Wei as Posy Li.
