Actor Rege-Jean Page, who starred in the popular Netflix period series Bridgerton, has been roped in to play the lead in the upcoming reboot of The Saint. Page will also reportedly serve as executive producer on the show, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The Saint is based on a character created by Leslie Charteris called Simon Templar, an expert thief and heist man, who helps people out of tough situations using unconventional methods. The character has made on screen appearances in both television and film; the 1960s British series starred Roger Moore and Val Kilmer played Templar in the 1997 American film adaptation.

The Saint reboot has been in the works for a long time, with Chris Pine rumored to star in it last year. That version of the reboot has been scrapped and Kwame Kwei-Armah, actor and playwright, has been roped in to write a new draft of the series. Brad Krevoy, Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Robert Evans are revealed to be the producers of the reboot. Evans, who died in 2019, will be credited posthumously.

The Paramount Studios project will mark Page’s second collaboration with the studio. He had previously worked on the upcoming Dungeons and Dragons movie of the studio.

Page, who has announced that he will not be returning for the second season of Bridgerton, is also set to appear in the Russo Brothers’ thriller The Gray Man, alongside Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans.
