Phoebe Dynevor is the star of the hit Shonda Rhimes’s regency era period drama with a modern twist, Bridgerton based on the book series by Julia Quinn. The actor catapulted to fame for essaying Daphne Bridgerton, the fourth of eight siblings who hatches a fake courtship scenario with the devilishly handsome and most sought after eligible bachelor in the countryside, Simon Basset (played by Rege-Jean page), Duke of Hastings.
During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, when asked what was the most surprising fan experience she ever had, Phoebe revealed that Kim Kardashian had texted her after the show was released.
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star, Kim Kardashian had messaged Phoebe a few times which was surprising since she wasn’t expecting the show to have that kind of an impact.
The show’s director, Julie Anne Robinson, while interacting with the publication revealed how she had warned Phoebe of all the attention coming her way. She also disclosed that she was very proud of casting Phoebe in the role of Daphne and that she was a fan of her character. “She has this incredible, very modern sensibility and you just feel this energy and this dynamism behind her performance. But she also has the ability to have the glacial kind of look that the Regency Era required. I mean, I am just a huge fan”, Julia was quoted as saying.
Phoebe also spoke about Shondaland’s plans to create a series on Regency era England. She was immediately taken by the script and invested in the story. Daphne’s character intrigued her from the beginning and she hoped to secure the part.
Julie revealed how she wanted the series to reflect a sense of modernity, to make it relatable for the masses.
Recalling her interaction with her co-star, Page, Phoebe revealed that she found him stunning and that reading some romantic lines together with him felt like a “blur”. On filming steamy scenes, Phoebe stated that it was a collaboration which involved getting a sense of what the director wanted, judging the comfort level of the actors and finally blocking the scenes with their intimacy coordinator.
Rege-Jean Page revealed his exit amidst much disappointment amongst fans as the second season will follow Daphne’s older brother, Lord Anthony Bridgerton in his quest to find his Viscountess. The second season has been adapted from the second book in the Briderton series, The Viscount Who Loved Me.
The series has already been renewed all the way through season four and the filming of season two is underway.
