Britney Spears has been dropping bombshells and making rounds on the internet for quite some time now for her recently launched memoir, "The Woman in Me." From her emotional heartbreaks to the tear-jerking abortion incident - Spears has given her fans an intimate glimpse into the life of a pop queen. Amid one such shocking revelation is the claim of a drunken shotgun wedding with her then-husband Jason Alexander. However, the alleged claims were rubbished by Jason Alexander and his version of the story is surprisingly different than the original claim.
"Actually we were in love.."
Jason Alexander, Britney Spears' infamous ex-husband has rebuked all the claims, citing the drunken shotgun wedding. Alexander told TMZ that they didn't marry because they were drunk or bored but rather were sober and so much in love. Speaking on her latest memoir and whether he will buy it, he said, "Readers shouldn't believe a word Britney says about their marriage in her new memoir. I would only accept a copy if it was signed and, even then, he admits he'd probably sell it to the highest bidder."
For the unversed, Britney Spears married her childhood friend Jason Alexander in Las Vegas in January 2004.
Backstory of Britney Spears and Jason Alexander's 55-hour wedding
Pop singer Britney Spears became the talk of the town after she got married hastily to her friend Jason Alexander. Recalling her quick wedding, the Oops, I Did It Again singer said, “As a twentysomething will do after a few drinks, I wound up in bed with one of my friends — a childhood friend who I’ve known forever. We were sh** faced." However, the marriage was short-lived and was annulled merely 55 hours later.
She also steered clear that she was not in love at the time and said, “People have asked me if I loved him. To be clear: he and I were not in love. I was just honestly very drunk — and probably in a more general sense at the time in my life, very bored.”
Britney Spears' memoir hit the shelves on October 24 and is anticipated to be amongst the highest-selling books, competing with Prince Harry's memoir Spare.
