Prithviraj Sukumaran had promised that Bro Daddy will be the feel-good entertainer that the audiences would want during the grim times of the pandemic, and if the Mohanlal-starrer’s trailer is anything to go by, it’s all that and more.

The trailer of the much-awaited movie, which will release on Disney+ Hotstar, was released through the social media pages of both actors. Mohanlal look sprightly as John Kattadi in the movie, which starts off with the actor showing off his comedic skills that he hasn't brought forth a long time. Prithviraj's Eesho John Kattadi too is a far cry from the macho roles that he has portrayed. We also get to see Soubin Shahir in a delightful role in the movie, which has pastel shades written all over it.

Kalyani plays Prithviraj's romantic interest in the movie, but judging from the trailer, the combination scenes of Drishyam stars Mohanlal and Meena could be the icing on the top. The team had last week revealed its teaser, which hinted at the storyline of the movie, which is scripted by Sreejith N and Bibin Malieckal. The teaser revealed the name of the characters as well as their relationships.

With Mohanlal and Prithviraj playing father and son, respectively, the family entertainer presents a series of hilarious incidents when the latter’s character Eesho falls in love with Anna, who is the daughter of Kurian, who was spurned by his grandfather. Kalyani Priyadarshan, Lalu Alex and Meena play Anna, Kurian and Eesho’s mother Annamma, respectively.

The movie also has Soubin Shahir, Unni Mukundan, Kaniha, Nikhila Vimal, Jagadish and Sijoy Varghese in pivotal roles. Bro Daddy marks Prithviraj’s second directorial and is completely different from his debut venture Lucifer, which also had Mohanlal in the lead.

In fact, the success of Lucifer is what prompted Mohanlal and Prithviraj to team up again for the OTT release. In a recent interview with OTTplay, Mohanlal said, “When people think of Mohanlal-Prithviraj combination, Lucifer comes to their mind first and that generates an interest in the audience to watch Bro Daddy. That’s the chief reason we did the same.”

The superstar also told us that Bro Daddy is a comedy that is shot well. “If you shoot a humour-driven movie with visually-pleasing aesthetics, it comes out really well. In Malayalam, we haven’t done too many movies like that, again due to the budget,” he said.

Bro Daddy is set to drop on Disney+ Hotstar on January 26.
