Bro, the Telugu remake of ZEE5’s direct-to-OTT release Vinodhaya Sitham, was written and directed by Samuthirakani. Leading writer-filmmaker Trivikram wrote the screenplay and the dialogues for the Telugu version that starred Pawan Kalyan, Sai Dharam Tej, Ketika Sharma, Priya Prakash Varrier. TG Vishwa Prasad produced the film under People Media Factory in association with ZEE Studios.
The film released in theatres on July 28 to mixed responses from critics and audiences and put up a decent show at the box office. Nearly four weeks after its theatrical run, the socio-fantasy drama is coming to OTT this Friday. Netflix acquired its post-theatrical streaming rights. Ahead of its digital premiere, the video version of the song Okasaari Putti was launched by the makers.
Okasaari Putti summarises the film’s essence in a nutshell, taking a viewer through the efforts that Markandeya takes to safeguard the dignity of his family - comprising a mother and three siblings - post his father’s death. From delivering newspapers to serving refreshments and cleaning, he does odd jobs to provide financial security to the family at a young age.
While Markandeya loses his humanly touch while being lost in the quest of livelihood in the later years, he realises his mistakes and treats his siblings and mother with fondness. Moreover, as per the story, he doesn’t have much time to live either and wants to be remembered as a compassionate human before he dies. Pawan Kalyan plays a God who represents time in the film.
‘Naadi Nadannadedi..Neetho Raalenu Andhi..Raasundile Munde Ee Samayam…Telisunnade Tappadani Payanam,” the lyrics aptly summarise the protagonist’s situation. Kasarla Shyam wrote the lyrics for Okasaari Putti while Ravi G is the singer. Thaman S is the music director and Sujith Vaassudev cranks the camera. The crew also comprises art director AS Prakash, editor Navin Nooli and others.
