Netflix has finally decided to show the truth behind the heinous crime that shook the world. The Indrani Mukerjea Story: Buried Truth documentary is based on the infamous Sheena Bora murder case in 2012. Indrani Mukerjea will exclusively talk about the case of Bora's death for the first time. Netflix dropped the first poster, where we get to see half covered Indrani’s face.

When and where to watch Buried Truth

Indrani is a former high-profile media person and co-founder of INX media. She was accused of killing her daughter Sheena, and got arrested for it. Her husband at the time, Peter Mukerjea is a Brirish business tycoon. The Indrani Mukerjea Story: Buried Turth will be released on February 23, 2024, only on Netflix.

What will be shown in the documentary

According to Netflix, the documentary will feature Indrani Mukerjea herself, with her other children Vidhie Mukherjea and Mikhail Bora, and some lawyers, and former journalists. They will talk about the dysfunctional family and their shocking motives. It is also assured that they will be showing some unseen images of Peter and his son Rahul Mukerjea. The documentary also has a disturbing call recording of Indrani, her ex-husband Peter and his son Rahul.

About Sheena Bora murder case

Sheena Bora’s murder case is still ongoing, and all the accused people have got bailed. After spending six years in jail, Indrani is still facing trials for her daughter’s murder. The Supreme Court granted her bail in 2022, declaring the case will take long time to be solved, and Indrani's prison time has been dragged too long.

Indrani Mukerjea's explosive memoir - Unbroken, published last year, delves into the case with unwavering self-defense. The book paints a vivid picture of her journey while reiterating her innocence at every turn. You can get the book from Amazon. The documentary is actually based on the book in which she she spoke about her side of the story. Indrani has claimed that the killer is still roaming free.

A Bengali film inspired from the case

Dark Chocolate, a Bengali crime-thriller, directed by Agnidev Chatterjee, took inspiration from the shocking real-life murder of Sheena Bora. Released in 2016, the film unravels the complexities of this high-profile case. Bollywood actress Mahima Chaudhary made her Bengali debut with the film, where she played the role of Indrani Mukerjea as Ishani Banerjee. Riya Sen played the role of Sheena Bora as Rina Bardhan, and Sudeep Mukherjee played the role of Peter Mukerjea. The film is available on Prime Video.
