Incidentally, both Hunt and Butta Bomma are remakes of Malayalam films, which were to clash on January 26
Butta Bomma, the Telugu remake of Kappela, was to hit screens on January 26 and the release date was announced much in advance. Along with Butta Bomma, two other major releases for January 26 were Sudheer Babu’s cop thriller Hunt and another small-budgeted film Sindhooram. However, the makers of Butta Bomma have now announced that the release of their film has been postponed by a week. The Anikha Surendra, Surya Vassishta, Arjun Das starrer will now hit screens on February 4.
Confirming the news with a release date poster featuring Anikha Surendran, Surya Vashistta and Arjun Das, the production houses Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas wrote, “A slight delay! ⏳ And we believe the wait is worth it! ❤️ #Buttabomma grand release worldwide in theaters on 4th February!” The film that also stars Navya Swami, Narra Srinu, Pammi Sai, Karthik Prasad, Vasu Inturi, Mirchi Kiran, Kancharapalem Kishore and Madhumani in key roles.
Interestingly, Sudheer Babu’s Hunt, much like Butta Bomma, is a remake of a Malayalam film titled Mumbai Police. The makers of Hunt should be reasonably relieved with the news and will now get a better chance to draw crowds to theatres for the Republic Day weekend. Butta Bomma is directed by a newcomer Shourie Chandrasekhar Ramesh while Hunt is helmed by Mahesh. The latter also stars Srikanth, Bharath and Chitra Shukla in pivotal parts.
The pre-release event of Butta Bomma was to be organised this weekend though it’s now expected to be held at a date closer to the film’s release. The first single from the film, Vinodamlo Kathemundo, composed by Sweekar Agasthi, has resonated with music buffs. Another content-driven film, Writer Padmabhushan, will clash with Butta Bomma for the first weekend of February.
