There was a lot of back-and-forth when it came to Salman Khan and Karan Johar’s movie together. The two were collaborating after a long time (Salman did a cameo in Karan’s debut directorial film, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, back in 1998). While there were reports that the film had hit a snag and might be on the backburner, mainly because Salman signed another movie with Sajid Nadiadwala, that doesn’t seem to be the case. We hear that the film, which is tentatively titled The Bull, is not shelved and will rather go on floors later this year.

What we hear

PeepingMoon has reported that The Bull will go on floors in November or December of this year. A source told the portal that the movie is aiming for late 2025 release. This is because the production needs more time to prepare for the project.

India-Maldives tension the reason for delay?

The source further mentioned that the tension between India and Maldives (PM Narendra Modi pleading to Indian citizens to promote Indian destinations like Lakshwadeep over Maldives) has caused delay in the movie. “The deteriorating India-Maldives relations are posing some political and controversial challenges for the project at this juncture and hence Salman and Karan have mutually decided to start it later this year,” the source was quoted saying.

Meanwhile, it looks like Salman took up the AR Murugadoss-Sajid Nadiadwala collaboration film to make up for Tiger 3’s underwhelming performance at the Box Office. The actor believes that Sajid makes movies which appeal to the mass audiences and that can rekindle his superstardom. Although there were reports that Karan was facing monetary issues after bringing Salman on board, that doesn’t appear to be the case at least now.

What is The Bull all about

The Bull is inspired from the real-life mission, Operation Cactus. Back in 1988, the Indian government ousted a group of 200 Sri Lankan militants who planned to attack the then Maldives President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom. Salman was touted to play paramilitary office, Brigadier Farukh Bulsara, in the film. He underwent sixty days of rigorous training to transform and get into the skin of the character.
