Buzz: Sidharth Malhotra, Kiara Advani on board for a rom-com backed by Karan Johar? Here’s what we know

After Shershaah, Sidharth Malhotra, Kiara Advani and Karan Johar will soon team up to take the silver screen by storm yet again. It was reported that Sidharth and Kiara will star in an upcoming romantic comedy produced by Karan.

According to a report in Pinkvilla, speculations regarding a collaboration of the trio started to come up after Sidharth and Kiara were spotted outside the offices of Dharma Productions, Karan’s production banner. A source told the portal that the trio are indeed in talks for a film together, helmed by Shashank Khaitan who is popular for his works like Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014) and went on to direct it's spiritual sequel Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2017).

Shashank had had a meeting with the duo, and the latter had agreed to be a part of the film ‘in principle’, although paperwork regarding the same is yet to be completed. Speaking of how excited the team is for the project, the source added that the makers are planning to take the film on floors by the end of the year.

The report also stated that the film is expected to be the third instalment in Shashank’s ‘Dulhania’ film series. The director had reportedly been ‘toying’ with the idea of a third film in the series, which did not materialise back then.

Earlier, reports had emerged that Sidharth and Kiara were coming together for another romantic comedy called Adal Badal, backed by Sunir Kheterpal. According to the source, although the makers had already started prepping for Adal Badal, in terms of locking a script, acquiring the rights and registering a title, they were yet to find a director, so it might take a while for the film to go on floors.

During Shershaah’s one year anniversary, Sidharth and Kiara had conducted an Instagram Live together, where they discussed the possibility of coming together for a film ‘very soon’.
