Byomkesh O Durgo Rohoshyo: Dev takes a jibe at Srijit’s hashtag, #OnMyOwnTerms

Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay’s iconic novel Durgo Rohoshyo is in much demand in the Bengali film industry. Two directors, Birsa Dasgupta, and Srijit Mukherji, have just completed shooting a film and a web series on this Byomkesh Bakshi story with Dev and Anirban Bhattacharya in the character of the iconic sleuth.

On July 1, Birsa, Dev, and their team dropped a pre-teaser of their film, Byomkesh O Durgo Rohoshyo, and Srijit released a poster of his web series, Durgo Rawhoshyo. Srijit shared the poster with his famous hashtag, ‘#OnMyOwnTerms.’ Meanwhile, Dev took a jibe at his hashtag and wrote, “We don’t have any terms and conditions.” Along with the video, he further shared, “We just have one wish. If you like this video, please let us know and share it with your friends. The entire Byomkesh team worked hard, and we wish you would like our effort.”

The two Durgo Rohoshyo productions have many things in common. While Satyam Bhattacharya plays the character of Manilal in the film, his co-actor from Ballabhpurer Roopkotha, Debraj Bhattacharya, plays the same character in the web series. Santilal Mukherjee plays Inspector Purandar Pandey in the film, while his theatre partner Chandan Sen plays the same character in Srijit’s project. 

Birsa’s film features Rukmini Maitra as Satyabati and Ambarish Bhattacharya as Ajit. Meanwhile, Sohini Sarkar and Rahul Arunodoy Banerjee will be seen as Satyabati and Ajit in Srijit’s web series.
