Dev, Rukmini Maitra, and Ambarish Bhattacharya are all set to emerge as the brand-new Byomkesh Bakshi, Satyabati, and Ajit. Directed by Birsa Das Gupta, the film will hit the theatres on August 11.
Rukmini will play the role of Satyabati for the first time in the upcoming film Byomkesh O Durgo Rohosyo. Like the original story, Satyabati is pregnant in the film. However, taking liberty, the makers take Satyabati’s character to the fort – the epicentre of all the adventure. This is a deviation from Saradindu Bandyopadhyay’s novel.
In the original story, Satyabati was pregnant for eight months. Hence Rukmini was shown likewise. She acted with an artificial womb that weighed four and a half kilos. The majority of the shooting was done in the Garh Kundar Fort of Madhya Pradesh. Rukmini faced hardships and troubles shooting in such heat with the heavy womb. The actress, in an interview with ABP Ananda, said, “I was excited initially, thinking I would shoot with an artificial womb. That was a challenge. After shooting for some hours, I understood that I was suffering just like a pregnant woman. My feet got swollen in a few days.”

She further added, “I could not sit after makeup. My knees trembled and time and again I had to lie down. I had a pain in my waist. I had to increase my weight for the role. Climbing so many steps in the fort and shooting for so much time was not an easy task. I tried my best. Now the audience will judge.”
Rukmini said, “I love taking challenges. I want to do characters that mainstream heroines do not want to do. When I came to Tollywood, many people thought I would only do commercial films. But I worked without makeup in my very first film. I acted in roles such as a terrorist or a mother of two kids. In Byomkesh, the biggest challenge to me was the fact that Satyabati was eight months pregnant.”
