Can Lokah's Chandra fly? Kalyani Priyadarshan reveals the extent of her superpower

Malayalam actress Kalyani Priyadarshan has established that she is a talent here to stay with her blockbuster hit Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra (streaming on JioHotstar via OTTplay Premium). The film stars her as Chandra, aka Neeli, who has superhuman powers. But can Chandra fly? Kalyani Priyadarshan reveals the extent of her character’s superpower in a recent chat with The Nod.

The 2025 Malayalam film Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra is helmed by Dominic Arun and stars Kalyani in the titular role of Chandra. During a chat with The Nod, Kalyani was asked which power from Lokah would you steal for her real life?

“I wanted to say flying but technically Chandra cannot fly. It was just in a dream,” Kalyani explains, while adding, “The ability to like kickass.”

So what other superpowers did Chandra have in Lokah? Chandra has been living for centuries, and does not age. She has immense physical strength to attack and kill others. However, her biggest weakness is her heart, and would perish if her heart is fatally injured. A creature of the night, Chandra cannot be exposed to sunlight as well.

Lokah’s Chandra role

Lokah revolves around a mysterious woman named Chandra, who moves to a new city and quickly draws the attention of three neighbourhood boys. One of them, Sunny follows her and is shocked to learn that she is in fact a vampire, Kalliyankattu Neeli, a dreaded figure from Kerala’s folklore. Cowritten by Dominic Arun and Santhy Balachandran, the film then traces Neeli’s journey from childhood, reimagining her tale for a modern world with a supernatural touch.

Actor Naslen plays Sunny in the film, along with Chandu Salim Kumar and Arun Kurian, while Sandy Master is seen as the villain. Chandra’s bite actually turns him also into a vampire, but she takes him down. Kaantha actor Dulquer Salmaan has produced Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra.
