In the list of anticipated OTT releases of the year, Candy has reserved a spot for itself on the top shelf. Touted as a dark tale of suspense and mystery, the Richa Chadha starrer is all set to hit the streaming platform Voot Select on September 8. Chadha, known for the way she immerses herself in her roles has gone the extra mile for Candy as well, meeting up with real-life policewomen to prepare herself for her character.
Calling the experience far from easy, Chadha reveals how portraying a cop on screen required an altogether different mental composure. She says that she was lucky in obtaining an opportunity to spend some time with female law enforcement officers, referring to how Indian society puts untoward pressure on such women to take care of their family’s needs and fulfil their duties as policewomen.
The Filmfare award-winning actress also gave her take on how actors should not settle for ‘black and white' roles and instead broaden their horizons, leaving their comfort zones and taking up as complicated a role as they get. She calls preparing for a role even harder than acting it out.
Set against the mist-laden hills of a small town, Candy will focus on the dark and twisted tale of the happenings in the fictional town of Rudrakund. Rife with murder, mystery and a star-studded cast, the upcoming thriller web series promises a roller coaster of nail-biters and quivers, bound to give viewers goosebumps with each passing second.
Produced by Optimystix Entertainment and directed by Ashish R Shukla, Candy will see Richa Chadha share screen space with Ronit Roy. The series is created by Debojit Das Purkayastha.
