Cannes Film Festival will start from May 17 to May 22.

The Cannes Film Festival annually showcases new films from across the world in a wide variety of genres, including documentaries. This year, Cannes has started a new tradition by naming India the official "country of honour."
Previously, Indian celebrities have walked the Cannes red carpet. On May 17, India will have its largest official presence on the red carpet, marking the country's position as the first ever Marche du Film Country of Honour at Cannes.
Anurag Thakur, Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, will start off India's stay at Cannes 2022 with Charles H Rivkin, Chairman & CEO Motion Pictures Association of America, at 6:30 p.m. India time.
The first Red Carpet appearance will be followed by a screening of the opening French film Final Cut by director Michel Hazanavicius.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui, R Madhavan, AR Rahman, Pooja Hegde, Tamannaah Bhatia, Ricky Kej, Shekhar Kapur, Prasoon Joshi, Vani Tripathi, and Mame Khan will walk the red carpet after.
Other celebrities such as Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Aditi Rao Hydari, Hina Khan, and Helly Shah will walk the red carpet on other days of the event. Deepika Padukone is one of eight members of this year's Cannes Film Festival's competitive jury, which also comprises renowned individuals.
Following that, Anurag Thakur will host an exclusive Gala dinner for the contingent, during which he will promote them and showcase their chosen fashionable style to honour India.
Six Indian films will have their screenings, including Rocketry - The Nambi Effect which is Madhavan’s directorial debut, Godavari (Marathi) a film which is director by Nikhil Mahajan, Alpha Beta Gamma (Hindi) is a romantic comedy directed by Shankar Srikumar. Biswajeet Bora directed Boomba Ride (Assamese), Dhuin (Hindi, Marathi) and Tree Full of Parrots (Malayalam) directed by Shri Jayarajn.
