Rahat Kazmi, a frequent festival attendee, had previously visited the Cannes Film Festival five times and he is happy to be there again. Rahat is excited to unveil the poster for his upcoming film.

In 2016, he had the global premiere of his film Mantostaan and the following year, he took Side A and Side B to the fest. In 2018, he released the first look of Lihaaf, and in 2019, it was Hina Khan's Lines. He said, "Hamara bahut achcha rishta ban gaya hai Cannes se."

During an interview with Hindustan Times, the filmmaker spoke about his reaction to his films that were screened at the Cannes Film Festival. His film Mantostann had a positive reception from the audience whereas the film Side A and Side B was banned in the halls of Kashmir before performing well monetarily. Lihaaf was critically and commercially successful, and so was Lines, which starred Hina Khan. The director complimented Hina Khan, saying he was happy with her work and that she is a talented actor. As you may recall, she walked down the red carpet, and he was overwhelmed with emotions, seeing her. Her outfit too made quite an impression at the festival.

Kazmi further mentioned Cannes as the ideal stage for independent filmmakers since they get the opportunity to meet international directors and stars who value and appreciate the craft of filmmaking. According to Kazmi, Cannes is the world's largest film festival. And he sends his gratitude to actress Priyanka Chopra and others who have shattered stereotypes and paved the road for Indian talents to succeed globally.

Something that he enjoys about Cannes is watching "cinema change as filmmakers from all around the world experiment and come together to display their work." He explained, "Good work is recognised, and we have worked with numerous directors on our projects. This year is exceptionally wonderful since India is being honoured.”
