Sapta Sagaradaache Ello was a story that Hemanth M Rao intended to tell with a lot of music. 12 songs across its two parts was his plan, with six in each, which, we now hear could increase for Side B after all. Of the six songs in Side A, Hemanth and music director Charan Raj decided to let audiences sample only two – the very popular Horaata and the title track – to give them a taste of what was in store. When the film then released in theatres on September 1, audiences were literally in for a treat. Charan Raj’s music – the songs and the background score – elevated the theatrical experience and how and audiences who fell in love with the film and its music had been waiting eagerly for the soundtrack to be made available to stream.
Two nights ago, there were murmurs of the team prepping to release the soundtrack when the songs appeared on YouTube under a channel called Charan Raj. When we checked in with the music man, he said that it was an auto-generated channel as he was in the process of uploading the score on all streaming platforms. Today, the makers have officially announced that the songs of Sapta Sagaradaache Ello are out for all to hear.
In a conversation with OTTplay prior to the release of Sapta Sagaradaache Ello Side A, Charan had said that he enjoys working with filmmakers like Hemanth because of the freedom he has to experiment with musical genres, instruments, vocal talents, etc. What also helps, he had said, is that Hemanth listens to a lot of music and discusses ideas, which Charan then translates into pieces for the filmmaker. The 12 songs of SSE happened because Charan gave Hemanth multiple options for certain sequences, many of which the latter liked and decided to use in different sections of the film.
