As the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues with yet another lukewarm offering, Captain America: Brave New World, there is still much to be excited about. The future of the universe revolves around mutants, the multiverse, and, of course, The First Family, Fantastic Four: First Steps. However, the most highly anticipated projects lie at the very end—Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. But what if we told you that both of these projects have been teased in Brave New World, specifically in the post-credits scene? Well, thank us later, but read on to know everything about it.

About Captain America: Brave New World

The world is now on the other side of the Blip and the Celestial emergence in the Indian Ocean, with America having elected Thaddeus Ross (Harrison Ford) as the new President of the USA. Ross now wants to work with Captain America, aka Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), who is joined by Joaquin Torres (Danny Ramirez), the new Falcon from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. When an attack on the President frames Isaiah Bradley (Carl Lumbly) as the culprit, Captain America must uncover the real perpetrator and save his friend.

What Happens in the End?

In the epilogue, Ross is imprisoned on The Raft—the same location where he once detained Captain America and his team in Captain America: Civil War. He has resigned from his position as President to facilitate the transition into the so-called "Brave New World." A treaty is established between the U.S. and other nations for the harmonious and fair use of Adamantium. Isaiah Bradley is freed, Danny Ramirez’s Falcon is revived and healing, and Liv Tyler’s character briefly returns to visit her father, Ross, who is now a changed man committed to doing good.

By the end of the film, Brave New World sets up several future storylines: the battle for Adamantium, the presence of Red Hulk, Joaquin Torres' potential role in the Young Avengers, and Sam Wilson growing into his role as Captain America, despite lacking the super-serum. Additionally, there’s an ex-widow from the Red Room in the mix—Shira Haas as Ruth Bat-Seraph—whose future role remains to be seen.

The Samuel Sterns Post-Credit Scene

As the movie ends at The Raft, the post-credit scene continues at the same location. However, this time, Sam Wilson isn't there for Ross—he's meeting Samuel Sterns. In their conversation, Sterns smirks and asks, “You want to know what’s funny?” Sam, unimpressed, replies, “I’m not in the mood for your jokes.” Sterns continues, “We share the same world, don’t we? It’s coming. I’ve seen it in the probabilities—seen it plain as day. All you heroes protecting this world—do you think you’re the only ones? Do you think this is the only world?”

This brief exchange hints at a much larger development. Throughout the MCU, moments of peace for the heroes are often interrupted by the looming presence of an even bigger threat. Sterns, whose Gamma radiation exposure has heightened his intellect, appears to have calculated the probability of a looming multiversal event.

He is clearly referring to Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. What might seem like a minor post-credit scene is actually setting the stage for the next phase of the MCU, where the Avengers will first battle Doctor Doom (played by Robert Downey Jr.) and later face multiversal chaos in Secret Wars. With different worlds colliding, Sterns' ominous words suggest that the events are much closer than expected. It seems like the wild ride is about to begin, and this lukewarm film was just the warning bell.
