Captain Miller, the highly anticipated period action drama, hit the big screens as a Pongal special release on January 12. The movie, which stars National Award-winning actor Dhanush in the titular role, has been receiving mixed to positive reviews from audiences. However, the Arun Matheswaran directorial has been receiving an excellent response from the audiences in Kerala. According to the latest updates, Captain Miller is now set to emerge as Dhanush’s biggest box-office hit in the state.
Captain Miller Day 2 Kerala box office collections
According to the latest updates, Captain Miller made an average opening at the Kerala box office, making a total collection of Rs. 65 lakh. Thus, the movie emerged as the biggest opener for leading man Dhanush in the state. However, the movie has witnessed a major growth of over 30 percent in its Kerala box office collections on Day 2, thanks to the positive reviews and excellent word-of-mouth publicity.
The movie made a collection of Rs. 88 lakh on Day 2 and a total collection of Rs. 1.53 crore within the first 2 days of its release. Now, the trade experts suggest that Captain Miller will cross the Rs. 1-crore mark on its third day of release at the Kerala box office and cross a total collection of Rs. 2.5 crore within the first 3 days.
In that case, an excellent first-weekend opening is on the cards for the Dhanush starrer at the Kerala box office. The long weekend and Pongal holidays are expected to contribute to the same. The trade analysts also suggest that Captain Miller will also emerge as Dhanush's biggest box office hit in Kerala within the first few days of its release. Captain Miller receives mixed reviews
As expected, the period action drama, which marked Dhanush’s first onscreen collaboration with director Arun Matheswaran, has divided audiences. While action cinema lovers are highly impressed with Captain Miller, neutral audiences have been criticising the film and calling its action sequences mind-numbingly violent.
However, as always, Dhanush has impressed film fans with his fantastic performance as the titular character. Shivarajkumar, the Kannada superstar who played a key role in the film, has also impressed the viewers with his portrayal of the character Sengolan. The netizens, however, are divided when it comes to the casting of Priyanka Arul Mohan as Velmathi in the film. Some of the audiences feel that the actress is a misfit for the role.
