Captain Miller song Koranaaru: Dhanush, Shivarajkumar join forces in this folk number

The second single from the upcoming Tamil movie Captain Miller was released on Tuesday. The song has been titled Koranaaru and is composed by music director GV Prakash. While the song is penned by lyricist Umadevi, seasoned music composer Deva has sung it along with Santosh Hariharan and Alexander Babu. 

The lyrical video of Koranaaru also gives a glimpse of the scale of effort that has gone into filming this song. The highlight of this song seems to be its leading star cast — Dhanush and Shivarajkumar. The two superstars have shared the screen space for the first time in Captain Miller. 

Based on the visuals of Koranaaru, it's safe to assume that the stars play brothers in the movie. The song unfolds amid a village festival, celebrating the legacy and the rich history of the villagers. It's powerful and seems to have a lot of meaning, which is strongly connected to the film's main theme.

Filmmaker Arun Matheswaran has written and directed Captain Miller, which is touted as one of the most ambitious movies in Dhanush's career. This film also holds great significance for Arun's career as it marks his first film to get a huge theatrical release. Even though his debut film Rocky (2021) garnered critical acclaim, its box office reach was very limited. The director's second film Saani Kaayidham was released directly on Amazon Prime Video owing to the pandemic situation in the country. However, the critical reception for both these films was strong, creating a lot of anticipation for Captain Miller. 

Arun seems to have doubled down on his penchant for shooting raw and gritty action scenes in Captain Miller. The highlight of this film is likely to be its big-scale action, featuring Dhanush as an outlaw in colonized India.

Captain Miller also stars Sundeep Kishan, Priyanka Arul Mohan and John Kokken. The film is due in cinemas on January 12.
