Cartel trailer: A crime drama filled with twists, turns, deceit, manipulation, action

After unveiling the intense teaser of Cartel, the makers have dropped the trailer for the upcoming web series which will soon stream on ALTBalaji and MX Player. The trailer starts with Rani Maai (Supriya Pathak Kapur) who is the leader of the Angre gang. She is backed by her nephews played by Tanuj Virwani and Jitendra Joshi while Rithvij Dhanjani is her biological son. Their enemies are five different gangs but they never fight owing to the fear of Rani Maai.

Cartel has a stellar supporting cast including Pranati Rai Prakash, Divya Agarwal, Girija Oak Godbole, Amey Wagh, Monica Dogra, Vikram Kochhar, Vibhav Roy, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Sanaya Pithawala, Mayur More, Mrinal Dutt, Krishna Kaul, Aditi Vasudev, Keval Dasani, Kannan Arunachalam, Sushrii Mishra and Anil George. These are just a few names out of 137 actors cast in the web series.

While describing the premise of the show, the makers revealed that Cartel tells the story of five crime-lords based in different areas of present-day Mumbai. The web series showcases how they carry out their illegal operations and how political, judiciary and corporate bodies are closely intertwined with the underworld of contemporary times. The gangs have lived with cooperation and peace because of a treaty put forth by Rani Mai many years ago. 

However, the turn of events creates an imbalance between the gangs, and what happens next is what the show is all about!

Supriya's fierce avatar as the matriarch will remind one of her role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela wherein she played the onscreen mother of Deepika Padukone. The show marks her OTT debut with a web series. 

Cartel is created by Ekta Kapoor and will stream simultaneously on ALTBalaji and MX Gold from August 20, 2021.
