Vijay Raghavendra’s second collaboration with the team of his earlier Seetharam Benoy, Case of Kondana is one of the well-received films of the year.

When the team of Vijay Raghavendra’s Seetharam Benoy: Case No. 18 got together for another crime thriller that would see the actor as a policeman, they were sure that it would bear no resemblance to their first film. The result was Case of Kondana, which had both Vijay and actress Bhavana in equally pivotal roles, that was widely lauded for its gripping storytelling. The film had a fairly decent theatrical outing and has now made its way to OTT. Amazon Prime Video has picked up Case of Kondana and it is available to stream now.
Prior to the theatrical release, director Devi Prasad Shetty had said that Case of Kondana is not a routine crime thriller. The film has a hyperlinked narrative pattern, with four arcs that culminate into one plot. This time around, Vijay is ASI Wilson, who has bribed his way to a posting at the Chamarajpet Police Station. His superior officer, ACP Lakshmi (Bhavana) is smack in the middle of a series of home invasion/murder cases, which seems to be the handiwork of one person or gang. While Wilson is not part of ACP Lakshmi’s team, an altercation with a rowdy gang that has a score to settle with her too, puts him in her radar.
What was most interesting about Case of Kondana was that director Devi Sri Prasad did not attempt to portray his leading man as a superhero of sorts who can do no wrong. Instead, ASI Wilson had his flaws and a good heart too. When he gets caught in the middle of a crime and tries his best to steer clear of it is what one part of the narrative holds.
The film also stars Rangayana Raghu, Kushee Ravi, Bala Rajwadi, Sunder Raj, Saajan Kataria, among others. Music is by Gagan Baderiya, whose background score provides the film the right elevation.
