Alfonso Cuarón's first TV series Disclaimer with Apple has cast Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline in lead roles.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Apple has given a straight-to-series order to the thriller, which will be written, directed and executive produced by Cuarón. Disclaimer is based on the eponymous novel by Renée Knight.
Disclaimer will follow Catherine Ravenscroft (Blanchett), a TV documentary journalist whose work is solely based on revealing "the concealed transgressions of long-respected institutions." When a novel written by a widower (Kline) appears by her bedside table, she realises that she is the protagonist whose deepest, darkest secret is the focal point of the story.
This is Cuarón's new project with Apple where he's also producing Raymond and Ray. The streamer had inked a deal with the filmmaker in October 2019, right after his drama Roma won an Oscar for Best Picture.
Indiewire writes that Disclaimer will mark Cuarón's new collaboration with cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezk. They have previously worked together on Y Tu Mamá También, Children of Men, and Gravity.
Bruno Delbonnel is also the other cinematographer onboard. His credits include Coen brothers films like Inside Llewyn Davis, The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, and Joel Coen’s upcoming solo outing The Tragedy of Macbeth.
