The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has booked former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officer Sameer Wankhede and four others on charges of corruption. Sameer, who led the team that arrested Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan in an alleged drug case, is accused of demanding a bribe of Rs 25 crore from the owners of the Cordelia ship.

The CBI officers conducted raids at multiple locations, including Wankhede's residence, along with filing an FIR against the accused.

The arrest of Aryan Khan and his subsequent release on bail after spending three weeks in jail had been a major talking point in the country, with the case remaining in the national headlines for months. The NCB had arrested Aryan and 17 others from the Cordelia ship in October 2021, accusing them of possessing narcotic drugs. The arrest of Aryan had a significant impact on the image of Bollywood, which had already been plagued by controversies and negative perceptions at the time.

After several months of investigation, the NCB cleared Aryan of the charges against him, citing a lack of sufficient evidence. The case brought further scrutiny on the NCB and led to allegations of shoddy investigation and impropriety against Sameer Wankhede.

The news of Wankhede's corruption charges has once again brought the Aryan Khan case to the forefront. Meanwhile, Aryan Khan has moved on and is currently making his debut as a filmmaker. He recently directed his father Shah Rukh Khan in an advertisement.
