The Celebrity Cricket League 2025 drew to a close on March 2, with Punjab De Sher, the ‘babies’ of the tournament, winning their maiden trophy, after defeating the Chennai Rhinos at the Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar Stadium in Mysuru. The 11thseason of the tournament was down to 7 participating teams, with the Kerala Strikers bowing out. There were 14 group stage matches, each team playing 4, and the top 4 heading into the semis.
Most of the teams relied on 1-2 batsman to do the maximum damage as far as getting runs on the scoreboard goes. For the Bengal Tigers, it was Jammy Banerjee, for Karnataka Bulldozes Darling Krishna, for the Chennai Rhinos Vikranth, etc. Last year, Jammy Banerjee edged out Krishna to be adjudged the best batsman of Season 10.
This time around, though, even though the Bulldozers were sent packing in the semi-final and Krishna was not able to add much to his overall score, he still topped the leadership table, on the strength of his knocks in the group stage, including an unbeaten century, the first-ever in the history of the league. Krishna, who played 10 innings in this edition of CCL, amassed 404 runs, including 39 boundaries and 22 sixes.
Ahead of the semis, Jammy Banerjee was only 50 runs behind Krishna at 301 runs, but he managed to add only 3 to that tally, Vikranth, who was in sixth position then, added 113 to his tally during the semi-final against the Bulldozers and another 27 in the final to catapult to second place at 329 runs from 12 innings. With Jammy in third, Asgar Khan (Bhojpuri Dabanggs), Akhil Akkineni (Telugu Warriors), Anuj Khurana (Punjab De Sher), Harry Sandhu (Punjab De Sher), Rajeev Hanu (Karnataka Bulldozers), Shabir Ahluwalia (Mumbai Heroes) and Prithvi (Chennai Rhinos), rounding off the top 10.
