In the first semi-final of CCL 2025 on March 1, the defending champions, Bengal Tigers, will play Punjab De Sher. The Harrdy Sandhu-led Shers are the babies of the league – this is only their 5th time playing the tournament and the first time that they’ve made it past the group stage. The Tigers, on the other hand, have been part of CCL since the second edition, making it to the semis twice and perishing and eventually getting to a final and a tournament win only in 2024.
In fact, the Tigers could get to the trophy only because CCL followed the IPL style elimination play-offs. So, while they lost the match against the Karnataka Bulldozers in the first qualifier, they had one more chance of making it to the final, by playing the winner of the eliminator. They prevailed over the Mumbai Heroes and set up a third encounter against the Bulldozers, which they won.
The Bengal Tigers have a clear advantage over Punjab De Sher as they head into the semi-final on March 1 in Mysuru. the Tigers have beaten the Shers in each of their previous encounters and hold a 3-0 head-to-head record.
The defending champions have been on a roll, winning all of their 4 group stage matches this season and topping the table, which includes a defeat of Punjab De Sher. But the Shers, who’ve never before been at this stage of the tournament, have shown great resilience and a fighting spirit, which helped them get the better of the Karnataka Bulldozers and the Bhojpuri Dabangss and seal a semis spot. The prediction is in favour of Bengal Tigers.
The official broadcast partner of CCL 2025 is Sony Sports Ten 3, while the streaming partner is JioHotstar. The Bengal Tigers vs Punjab De Sher match is the first one on March 1 and is scheduled to begin at 2 pm.
