If there is one thing that the Celebrity Cricket League has proven, it is that many of our favourite stars are not only ardent fans of the gentleman’s game but also fiercely competitive while playing it. The popular cricket tournament featuring the who’s who of cricket will be back for its 10th year edition. This time around, the first set of matches between the eight teams will be held in Sharjah, after which the action moves back home with matches in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Vizag, Thiruvananthapuram, etc.
With only three weeks to go for the tourney to start, the organizers will have a grand curtain raiser event on February 2 in Dubai, with a spectacular showcase on the Burj Khalifa. This will be followed by a media briefing about the finer details of the tournament. Starting on February 23, CCL2024 will go on till March 17 with 20 matches in all. The T-10 matches will be held in 2 innings of 10 overs each, instead of the Test format of 4 innings of 5 overs each that they’d experimented with last time.
The defending champions are Telugu Warriors, who will look at taking it home a fifth time, led by Akhil Akkineni. The Bhojpuri Dabanggs, who had to return as runners-up, will want to open their tally, while multiple times champion Karnataka Bulldozers are sure to not only put up a major fight but definitely give the championship a shot. Of course, the rest of the teams are also capable of springing a surprise
The tournament gets a long-weekend start on February 23 till 25 in Sharjah, the following four weekends will then be in India, with the semi finals and final to be held in Vizag. This time around, the showrunners have tied up with Singapore and Dubai based Invenio Origin to make the tournament an even bigger success.
CCL2024 has Zee Network yet again as the official broadcast partner, which will make the live telecast available on multiple channels, with commentary in Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Punjabi, Bhojpuri and Malayalam. Alternatively, you can watch all the action on the CCL official YouTube page.
